Hurricane Recovery & Flood Protection:

• Ensure our region gets the resources we were promised to continue the recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
• Ensure that Category 5 (100 Year) flood protection for all of Southeast Louisiana is fully funded by the Federal government.

Economy:

• Support economic and fiscal policies to strengthen our dwindling middle class before it disappears and the American dream along with it.
• Work with local business leaders to promote economic growth and create better paying jobs.
• Support existing economic development endeavors such as Federal City, Lockheed Martin, the Port of New Orleans, and Advanced Manufacturing.
• Support policies to curtail deficit spending and protect the value of the American dollar in international markets.

   

Iraq:

• Bring our husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, and sons and daughters home from Iraq safely and as quickly as possible.
• Use the money that we have been spending in Iraq to rebuild the American infrastructure.

   

Education:

• Invest in our public education system so that every child in this country is given the opportunity to excel.
• Support policies that will make our public education system more accountable to parents and more focused on students.

Healthcare:

• Ensure that every American citizen has access to quality affordable healthcare.
• Work to secure Federal money to rebuild the region's healthcare infrastructure including the VA hospital.

   

Energy Policy:

• Decrease our country's reliance on foreign oil:
  • Increase drilling in the continental United States
  • Dedicate percentage of revenue to coastal restoration and flood protection projects
  • Require energy companies to commit a portion of their profits to research and development in alternative energy sources.
