“I am running for Congress
because working people are hurting and Washington just does
not get it! Washington is more interested in partisan
politics and back-room deals than families who are struggling
to afford food and gas.
We need Change! On
September 15, 2005, immediately following Katrina, the President
stood in Jackson Square and promised us that he would do
what it takes to help rebuild our communities. Almost three
years later that promise remains unfulfilled. President
Bush and Congress, however, are spending twelve
billion dollars a month on the war in Iraq that could
be spent in this district on Category 5 Flood Protection.
The people of the Second District need a vocal advocate
who will work for the recovery we were promised, safer neighborhoods,
better schools, and affordable healthcare. We
need real leadership, and we need it right now!”
