"Today, we announced the City of New Orleans has agreed to purchase the ravaged Methodist Hospital building for $16.25 million and redevelop the property into an 80-bed public hospital," said Rep. Richmond. "Residents of eastern New Orleans deserve a hospital and emergency services after returning to the city and reinvesting in their community." "I applaud the Landrieu administration for their due diligence during negotiations to acquire the hospital site, the citizens of New Orleans received the best deal and we will now be able to offer health care to all residents east of the Industrial Canal since the 2005 storms."
